Syngenta is a Basel-based company that wants to improve the global agriculture sector and target problems like climate change and lacking food security with new innovations and technology. One of the companies is Phytech, a platform that provides insights into the farming process to optimize yields using real-time plant data.
2. Munich Venture Partners (Germany)
Munich Venture Partners backs tech companies with venture capital investment funding in the early stage. The company invests in industrial tech, energy transition, mobility and logistics, and agriculture and foodtech. Since 2004 they have funded 24 companies and have created approximately 2100 jobs. They have, for example, invested in Novihum, who created a soil improver based on natural substances to make soil more profitable.
3. Yield Lab Europe (Ireland)
Yield Lab Europe has set their goal to fund early-stage companies that want to change the agriculture and food systems. Not only do they provide start-ups with capital but also with an access to the Yield Lab global network of experts, corporates, and investors. The company has 55 million euros under management and 19 portfolio companies. An interesting portfolio company is Cotter AgriTech. The business for livestock farmers has developed a system that can identify animals that need treatment instead of blanket treating all animals with antiparasitic drugs.
