According to projections, renewable energy will account for more than half of major power companies’ electricity generation capacity by 2040, equivalent to 100 gigatonnes.

1. iAM Capital (London)

The private equity firm iAM Capital is a globally operating investment group that focuses on real estate and the area of renewables. iAM Capital intends to capitalize on fragmented secondary opportunities by acting as an active agent in the creation of value through the consolidation and refinancing of renewable energy assets, a sector that is seen as quickly expanding following the increased worldwide demand and volatility in energy markets. Furthermore, in September 2015, iAM Capital launched its IGO Fund which contained a 127 Million € acquisition of 11 solar energy companies. This fund was sold in 2019 for 140 Million €.

2. Zouk Capital LLP (London)

The British private equity company Zouk Capital is concentrating its investments on the fields of technology and infrastructure while maintaining a focus on key factors related to renewables. Focus areas in Europe and the United Kingdom include electric vehicle charging infrastructure, waste-to-energy, energy efficiency, and distributed small-scale energy. Zouk Capital manages approximately 1 Billion € worth of assets, including the 420 Million £ Charging Investment Fund of the British Government supporting the public EV charging business all over the UK.

3. Terra Firma Capital Partners Limited (London)

Terra Firma, a private equity company founded in 1994, mainly invests in transformational private equity, operational real estate, and infrastructure plus. Terra Firma is a global pioneer in renewable energy investment under the Infrastructure Plus asset class. Since 2003, it has owned and financed renewable energy assets, and it has a proven track record of developing best-in-class renewable energy businesses. Terra Firma has executed 20 renewable energy contracts totaling over 2.6 Billion € in enterprise value.
