Educational technology, or short EdTech, is defined as information and/or communication technology tools that can be used in learning environments to increase engagement and individualize the learning experience. The EdTech industry is growing rapidly. This article highlights five active EdTech venture capital investors from our list.

1. Antler (Singapore)

Antler is an early-stage venture capital firm in Singapore, with offices in 25 cities such as Berlin, Stockholm, London, Tokyo, and Sydney. The firm partners with founders across six continents and has invested in more than 600 startups since 2018, to back more than 6.000 by 2030. Antler invests in companies from the EdTech sector. An example portfolio company is Aline, which aims to optimize learning with an App. They offer personalized content and actionable knowledge to validate skills and competencies.

2. FJ Labs (USA)

FJ Labs is a New York-based stage-agonistic investment firm focusing on marketplaces and consumer-facing startups. The firm believes in human ingenuity and aims to back that with its resources and know-how. To date, FJ Labs has invested in more than 900 companies. A portfolio example firm that FJ Labs invests in is Empowerly. Empower aims to empower students to be successful in college admissions and beyond. 98% of the Empowerly class of 2022 got into a top 100 U.S. college.

Update 2024: In 2023, the venture capital company invested in AI Clearing, a company that specializes in construction progress monitoring through their cutting-edge SaaS platform, AI Surveyor Engine. This tool uses machine learning to simplify digital field construction progress tracking.

3. Endeit Capital (Germany)

Endeit Capital is a Dutch and German scale-up investor founded in 2006. They are specifically interested in startups in the technology sector and buy and build projects in the industry. Their fund currently consists of €303M. This year, Endeit Capital co-led a funding round for Sharpist, a leading digital coaching provider for the personalized development of managers.

4. Owl Ventures (USA)

With over $2B in assets under management, Owl Ventures is the most prominent VC company in the world that is focused on EdTech investments. The company invests across all stages and has a diverse portfolio. A project they have backed is Amira Learning, which has developed an intelligent reading assistant to help people learn to read. Another startup is Kiddom, who help teachers plan, assess, and analyze the learning process of their students.

5. Educapital (France)

Educapital is a Paris-based investment fund that backs promising European startup companies. The firm has $200m in assets under management. Labster is one of their investment companies, which has created virtual labs for universities and high schools. Another portfolio company is Female Invest, a platform for financial education created especially for women.
